Good Morning Everyone. Happy Friday the 13th! Welcome to my new blog. I’m calling it “Dining About and About Dining”. The purpose of this blog is to create a place where people of the Seacoast can share thoughts and opinions about their dining experiences in the area. We’ll talk about what kinds of food, drinks, experiences, wine… that we like or we don’t like; all topics related to the dining experience in the Seacoast area.
So, to kick off the blog, let’s start with: Where have you eaten lately that you really liked and why? We’d love to hear.
I’m looking forward to reading your comments. Have a “lucky” Friday the 13th and a great weekend!
If you’re not already signed up, simply click the box below that says “receive news updates from this site” and you’ll be able to see everyone’s comments. Please share the link with anyone you know who loves talking about “Dining About and About Dining”.
Thanks,
Deb

I recently ate at the Green Monkey for the awesome Wednesday night wine/wonton special-yum! I love the special because I normally wouldn’t be able to afford eating out much, were it not for great specials like these!

Looking forward to it Deb!

Deb,
I am THRILLED that you are blogging! I heard about this via tweet I think from @seacoasthappyhr.
TGM has been our favorite Portsmouth establishment since you opened (we miss the Kona encrusted filet
Anywho, as for dining establishments in the area, we’ve heard good things about The District, my wife just went the other night. Additionally, with two young children we spend a lot of time at Flatbread Pizza. The combination of sustainable ingredients and the ability to take our kids is nice (and who doesn’t love pizza).
We also really miss Anneke Jans, but with the bridge closed it has severely affected our ability to walk home from there. The fried olives with a good martini are heaven.
Don’t worry, you’re still our #1 joint and you have no idea how seeing the same wait staff year in and year out speaks to how you run your business. It is so nice to see familiar faces when you enjoy your favorite restaurant.

This is going to wonderful! I’m looking forward to reading everyones thoughts and opinions about where and what they like. Matthew, my nieces love Flatbread pizza because they give them a piece of dough to play with. Amazing how something so simple can create customer loyalty!(for a 7 year old). So anyway, good luck with the blog Deb!

Hi Everyone , thanks for the quick response on the blog. This is so exciting and really going to be fun. Crystal so glad you enjoyed. Wine and Wonton Wednesday is a very popular night and were having fun with all the daily Happy Hour specials.
Matt, I am thrilled to be blogging as well. Since I’m new to this I will look to you for blogging etiquette. The Kona Filet is only off for alittle while
. I will put it back on soon, just wanted to run the Short Ribs for a bit.
I am pleased you mentioned Anneke Jans (Yum fried olives love them) and the bridge closure. I know its not as easy to get to Kittery, but I feel we need to make an effort to support our Maine neighbors whenever we can. There are some really nice restaurants across the bridge.
Lastly, a big hug for mentioning my staff, they truly are a fabulous group of people and I am so appreciative to have them.

Deb.,
Great to see you blogging not just about the Monkey but also about other establishments in the area. I have to say the Monkey is quickly becoming one of my favorite Portsmouth establishments and want to thank you and your staff for making a new Portsmouth resident feel feel so “at home.”

Unibroue beer dinner at the 106, quite impressive food coming out of the kitchen

Hi Deb, This is great! I love The Green Monkey, of course, and many other restaurants in and around Portsmouth. I can’t wait to hear about all the hidden gems I haven’t tried yet. Some of our favorites are The Green Monkey, Surf, Kitchen 106, Brazo, The District, and Shio. I really miss Pesce Blue/Pesce Italian Kitchen. I loved Pesce’s farmers’ market Monday buffet. I think we went almost every week during the farmers’ market season (Summer-Fall.) Every Monday, they would make 4-6 dishes with fresh produce, cheeses, flowers, etc. which were purchased at area farmers markets earlier in the day. Everything was amazing because it was so fresh and the variety was spectacular. Maybe you could do something like that at TGM in the Spring or Summer? I imagine it would be a lot of work though. I look forward to seeing what you and others have to say! I think the key to a good blog is to post often enough to keep interesting conversations happening, but not so much that it becomes overwhelming or that the content becomes boring or repetitive. You always have interesting things to say in person so I am sure your blog will be interesting and a big hit too!

Hi Tim, you are so welcome. Glad your enjoying the Portsmouth community and your new home. It’s a fabulous town to live in .
Rich, sorry I missed the dinner, 106 Restaurant is putting on some fun events, two of my favorite beers from Unibroue are Maudite and La Fin Du Monde. I usually can find them at Philbrick’s fresh market it anyone wants to try them. Enjoy!
Robert, glad to see you blogging with me. I had heard at one point Pesce Blue was doing the Farmers Market buffet. Most of the Chef’s in the area take advantage of the Farmer’s Market when it’s in full swing as does TGM, it’s the only way to go. There’s nothing better then getting a fresh product right form the farm. Oops.. one thing better, eating it fresh from the farms.
.
Here’s to keeping the blogging fun and interesting.
